The leaders of the International Union of Lawyers, the International Association of Sports Law (Greece), the Foundation «Sports against Drugs» and Outstanding Russian Athletes Decided to Create an International Public Organization to Protect the Rights of Athletes

Chairman of the International Union of Lawyers A. Trebkov, President of the International Association of Sports Law D. Panagiotopoulos, Deputy Chairman of the International Union of Lawyers A. Peskov, Head of the Foundation “Sports against Drugs” I.I. Ter-Ovanesyan, as well as our outstanding athletes O. Brusnikina and I.A. Ter-Ovanesyan(father of I.I. Ter-Ovanesyan) made a decision to create a new international public organization "International Association for the Protection of Athletes' Rights". The founders signed the Protocol on the establishment of the organization and the Charter of the Organization.

Brusnikina Olga - Honored Master of Sports in synchronized swimming, three-time Olympic champion, multiple world and European champion, member of the Presidential Council for Physical Culture and Sports, Honorary Chairman of the Athletes' Commission of the Russian Olympic Committee. Member of the World Swimming Hall of Fame Club (USA, 2009).

Ter-Ovanesyan I.A. - a legendary Soviet athlete and trainer, two-time Olympic medalist (1960 and 1964), three-time European champion in open stadiums, US indoor champion (1963), multiple world and European champion in long jump. For many years he played for the USSR national athletics team, was its head coach, and headed the Coaching Council of the national teams of Russia. Winner of the world's most prestigious sports award Fair Play in 2013 (Fair Play). PhD, Professor of the Athletics Chair of the Moscow State Academy of Physical Culture.

Scientists, professors, lawyers, mediators, sports lawyers, as well as athletes, sports veterans, and other persons related to sports law and professional sports can become members of the new international public organization "International Association for the Protection of Athletes' Rights". The organization will carry out its activities on the territory of the Russian Federation and other countries of the world. A representative office of the organization has already been established in Greece.

The purpose of the Organization is to protect the rights of athletes in all countries of the world from any forms of discrimination, political pressure, unjustified labor exploitation, violations of anti-doping legislation, unlawful and unjustified sports sanctions, administrative and criminal prosecutions, corruption, financial abuse and other criminal offenses.

The organization has been granted the right to interact with international, national sports federations and anti-doping organizations, international, Russian and foreign law enforcement, oversight and control bodies in order to protect the rights of athletes. It is also assumed that the organization will come out with public and private initiatives to protect the rights of athletes, as well as express its opinion on the fundamental problems of the development of international sports. Represent and defend the rights, legitimate interests of athletes in national, international organizations and courts. Demand compensation payments for athletes who have suffered from unlawful, unreasonable and excessive sanctions, criminal attacks, as well as illegal actions of officials of international and national organizations. To involve state-authorized persons, ombudsmen, lawyers, lawyers' associations, international organizations, human rights and public organizations in the Russian Federation and foreign countries to protect the rights of athletes.

It is expected that the organization will include many professors of sports law from leading universities in the world, famous advocates, barristers, attorneys and sports lawyers, public figures, prominent Russian and foreign athletes, heads of international and national sports organizations.

Deputy Chairman of the International Union of Lawyers, member of the Board of Directors of the International Association of Sports Law Anatoly Peskov was elected Chairman of the Board of Directors of the new public organization "International Association for the Protection of Athletes' Rights"

Peskov Anatoly lawyer, PhD, retired police colonel, author of the textbook "Sport and Unlawful Behavior", more than 100 monographs, manuals, scientific articles, other publications and interviews published in Russia and abroad on sports law. In the International Union of Lawyers, he heads the permanent Commission on international cooperation, which includes representatives from 18 countries of the world. In the International Association of Sports Law (Greece, Athens), he leads the Standing Committee on the Integrity and Safety of Sports. He is also an expert of Interpol (Project Stadia), a member of the Disciplinary Committee of the Russian Ice Hockey Federation, Deputy Chairman of the Commission on Sports Law under the Public Council of the Ministry of Sports of Russia.
