International scientific conference in Italy

International Union of Lawyers, International Athlete Rights Association (IARA) and International Association Sports Law (IASL) held an international scientific conference in Italy on May 17.

International Union of Lawyers, International Athlete Rights Association (IARA) and International Association Sports Law (IASL) together with the Italian universities of Teramo and Rome, held a virtual international scientific conference on the topic "How do institutional relations affect sports competitions?".

The conference was moderated by a member of the Standing Commission on International Cooperation of our Union, Professor Anna Di Giandomenico (Italy, Teramo) and Professor of the Cusano University Maria Francesca Serra (Italy, Rome). The conference was opened by the famous and esteemed professors in Italy Luigi Mastrangelo and Adolfo Noto. Anatoly Peskov, Deputy Chairman of the International Union of Lawyers and Chairman of the International Athlete Rights Association BoD (Russia), made a scientific report on the problems of combating corruption in international sports. There were other speakers, a member of the Standing Commission on International Cooperation, Representative of our Union in Hungary, Professor Andras Nemes (Hungary) and a member of the IARA BoD, Professor Texas A&M University Natasha Brison (USA). Zahra Sharifzadeh (Iran) and Berna Celik Dogruyol (Northern Cyprus) also made interesting reports. The problems of the relationship between politics and universal values in international sports, discrimination in children's sports, the functioning of international sports in a pandemic, isolation and massive sanctions against individual countries, as well as the problems of gender equality and transgender athletes were discussed.

This is the fifth international conference in which members of our Standing Commission on International Cooperation took part this year. The chairman of this Standing Commission, Anatoly Peskov, for example, has previously delivered scientific reports at the Italian University of Teramo (March 1), and at the Institute of Comparative Law under the Government of the Russian Federation (April 20). The Rector of the National University of Physical Education and Sports, Professor Florin Pelin (Romania) included Anatoly Peskov in the scientific committee for the preparation of the International Sports Congress, which will be held June 11-12, this year in Bucharest, and invited him to become a key speaker at this Congress.

The International Union of Lawyers continues to work to strengthen international public and scientific relations with lawyers from different countries of the world. Members of the Standing Commission on International Cooperation of our Union and the International Athlete Rights Association (IARA), created with the support of our Union, are actively involved in this work. The foreign members of our Union, our foreign colleagues and partners are full of strength, enthusiasm and creative energy. We wish them further success in their noble work for the benefit of strengthening peace and cooperation of all lawyers on our planet.
